The Perfect Cure for Everything – Travel!
Depression is a very sensitive topic and most discussed in recent times. Different individuals define it in different ways for some it is a state of mind and for others it is just a phase of life. In this article, we will try to enlighten you towards a notion which is still considered a taboo in our society. Talking about it is an invitation to mockery for few, while the other few are hindered due to the social phenomena called “log kya kahenge”. Understanding depression is perceptional! The victims often can not even describe what it feels like to be depressed. When asked one of the previous victims of depression Ms. Anjali, She said “it’s not that I was sad, or I was not successful or I was poor, or my love life was bland or anything, its like a part of your life is just missing!! And no matter how hard you try you just can’t find it”
So, we further discussed with Ms. Anjali on how did she come out of depression and what did she do for the same on which she responded “Well my parents thought it was just a phase of life and that I would just get better, for them me seeing a psychiatrist was not an option at all! So I gathered all my courage or whatever was left of it, and visited a psychiatrist at hospital which was located roughly about a 100 kms from my home” she took a pause and continues to say “The doctor after listening to me for 2.5 hrs and after asking around hundred odd questions gave me the cure in one single word Travel”
According to many psychiatrists and psychologists one of the basic cause of depression is that one does not travel! So many of them can’t even remember when was the last time one took on a backpacking adventure or visited a place they planned.
For Ms. Anjali, the cure started just by filling out a Survey! After which she took on one of the most enlightening journey of her life for which she shares her gratitude towards WanderTrust.
Five Reasons that proves Travelling is the best way to come out of depression
1.Taking Long walks:
When Anjali was surprised with a boarding pass to Pondicherry she was hardly aware of the step which she now calls a ‘leap’ in her life. On her first day a cab was waiting outside her coastal facing resort to take her to the universal village called Auroville. The lush greenery filled with a divine energy just boosts your moral. While taking a long walk one gets to exhale the internal toxic thoughts and think about all the beautiful experiences that life offers you. For Anjali it was a walk of self-discovery!
2.Meeting new people
The world is filled with different perspectives and opinions. When you get to listen to different people about different things you start appreciating the god’s gift called life and it will motivate you to move on explore the unexplored!
3.Try a new cuisine
Best way to treat your self is enjoying the local cuisine with some red wine to wash it down your throat. For Anjali, the French cuisine marinated in Dravidian spices made it hard for her to remember what was she worried about after all. The local jazz playing in the background just made the experience smoother.
4.Witness a performance
One should experience the essence of the contemporary theater backed with classical themes. The performer is the creator he lets you travel through the ecstatic dimensions by the performances! When the Shakespearean play of tempest was performed in one of the local but classy theaters of Pondicherry, the actress’s intense portrayal of the protagonist Miranda got Anjali in tears. The performers energy and enthusiasm left her with high that can only be felt.
5.Write!
With the advent of the technology we are losing the touch of pen and paper. Auto correct can not help anyone express their deepest thoughts and desires. The travel destination should motivate you explore your inner energy and for Anjali that’s what a surprise trip to Pondicherry did. Although her trip lasted a couple of weeks for Anjali it was an enlightening trip where she got to discover herself.
“I can never forget what WanderTrust did for me by surprising me with this amazing tour. I will forever be Grateful to them. WanderTrust is not like any other travel planning company which are only after your money. At WanderTrust they care more about you than you care about yourself ” –Anjali
