Have you ever had the opportunity to do something for your family, to bring a pleasant sense of devotion on the faces of your own? Because if you have, you know the ecstatic feeling it brings when their faces radiate love and compassion penetrating all layers of skin and gently embracing the heart. Things might come and go, but what matters the most is the people in the room, what matters the most is your presence. We at WanderTrust family got one similar opportunity. It was to plan a trip for someone who is our own, Sanket, whose experience of a week’s trip to Sri Lanka is what we have today for you!
“Colombo- a worthy destination in its own right and makes an excellent start – or finish – to your Sri Lankan adventures,” says Sanket. With the advent of exploring the iconic Gangaramaya temple, the National Museum of Colombo, Independence Square, and the Galle Face Green which houses an amazing sunset by the beach, one could easily expect a splendid trip from the beautiful start. Not to forget the evening spent in big-flush casinos sipping cocktails at the bar.
Well, this was just the beginning. The itinerary for Sanket had much more! The following day trip from Colombo to Mirissa city provided a great deal of sight-seeing; lush green grasses and exotic beaches with its unending activities that were a feast to the eyes. Sanket also enjoyed holding a beer and surfing the eyes across the beach in Mirissa which is also the best place to have crazy night parties and to flood your Instagram.
Even though the place looks serene, one just cannot tend to start off the day without a little hangover of the place (and the last night too :P). The Secret beach of Mirissa brings waves of people who have different ideas for the day- some prefer to read a book, some sunbath, or snorkel. One other attraction of the trip was the Coconut tree hill, which is a palm tree forest that overlooks the ocean and is an amazing sight to visit and record in one’s travel journals.
If you cannot stop imagining this trip already, then why not book one of yours with WanderTrust!
Sanket also had the pleasure of a joyful show of the whales and dolphins followed by a visit to Galle, UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, grand mansions, museums, and restored hotels owned by local and foreign artists, writers, photographers, and designers. We are sure you are already dreaming of this beautiful scenery in your minds!
Well, Sanket also visited Bentota- a rural resort town which was the next place in line which is famous for Bentota Beach and the Bentota River Cruise which is a boat trip hovering circling the Bentota Lagoon where one could easily find old mangroves and animals such as Crocodiles, water-monitors and some beautiful birds. This is the beauty of trips planned by WanderTrust, itinerary, and arrangements on point. You don’t need to believe us! Read these reviews.
Done with only sightseeing? Well, we also planned for a scenic train ride from Colombo to Ella City for him which was tripped around landscapes which were amazing, ranging from lush greenery forests to tea estates to lakes to bridges. One can then easily explore the city on their own and the cafes nearby and enjoy the dinner with live music.
The town is also famous for tourists hike to the Ella rock for sunrise which is too amazing a view to miss. The city has easy access to renting bikes which helps to explore the city alone. Tourists also visit the hidden waterfall which is an hour’s drive from Ella and the Ravana falls on the way back. The town also provides a short hike to Adam’s peak which houses zip-lining activity and an exemplary view from the famous 9 Arch Bridge. The soothing Ayurvedic Massage Parlors in the city would be a perfect way to end the day or perhaps the perfect way to end the trip if Sanket were to say.
